Urban Stitches - Melbourne

I have just returned from Urban Retreat in Melbourne with the designers Leanne Beasley, Rosalie Quinlan and Melanie.  Our projects that the girls designed for the weekend were exciting, all 3 very different.  I just get so excited when presented a name tag and the goodies bag.  I sat with Roz and Shelly from Perth and Julie from Ardrossan.  We had a really nice day together laughing and talking stitch.  I started on Melly's project and for the first time in history finished the hand stitching in one day (I am a 3 stitch girl and time for chatting).  The project is now ready for machine stitching together.  As usual at the Retreat we do lots of talking, ooohing and ahhhing, eating chocolate and yummy morning teas, lunch and afternoon teas, admiring everyone else's work, purchasing at Erica's shop, show and tell ...................  I am lucky enough to do the 2 day workshop with JULIE and we were given another goodies bag (I love the fabric layer cake, one of Rosie's fabrics).  The girls sitting at our table were very jealous.

Rosie has her new fabric range, its not yet in the shops.  She had a few bundles of Fat 1/4’s for sale, I had to have one.  Do you like cutting into your new ranges, I like mine to sit on my shelf, display them, touch them and whooo its just so hard. 

I caught up with my special friend Julie Nixon whom I was great friends with in Roxby Downs.  She taught me many techniques of patchwork and designed a lot of class projects.  Wednesday nights are just not the same.  Julie is an amasing quilter, she quilted two quilts for me and bought them over to Melbourne.  I am so excited, isn't she so clever.

Sydney Trip

I have just returned from an exciting weekend in Sydney and climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge which was amasing.  I was so worried in the morning, I thought it was going to be hard and scary.  It was neither, just breathtaking.  We went on a Twilight Climb, lasted about 3.5 hours, we climbed in the day light, watched the sunset and came down in the dark.  The view was spectacular, it was great watching Sydney turn on their lights.

 

I was also fortunate to go to Bathurst and visit Annie Downs at The Home Patch.  I have been a friend of Annie's for about 5 years, a dream was to visit her shop.  It was all that I expected and more.  I love her new fabric range, I had to buy some.  I also saw a sneak peak of her new line being released next year (you are going to love it).  I did some shopping, her new patterns are beautiful.  I wanted to bring home her shop, my case was not big enough.

How striking are the canola fields, the colour was amasing.

Bad Blogger – I am back!!

I’m sorry for not updating my blog, I have been having a few problems with the upload.
 
I have been busy sewing dance costumes for my girls who are dancing at Disneyland in HongKong in just 10 sleeps.  My family and I are sooooo excited,the girls have worked so hard and we are very proud of them!  I've had numerous visits to the post office and am relieved to have my passport back.  Look what was stamped inside, visa's for China and Vietnam.

My week away with  Leanne of Leanne's House and Melly from Melly & Me in Vietnam is all planned and I am so excited.  I have met some girls now who are also attending, we are going to have an amasing time.  We will miss Rosie, she has some wonderful projects for us to work on too.
 
I have been busy working on a few stitcheries, the Christmas Button BOM from Lynette Anderson, and busy making gifts for my FRIEND swap.  I just need another 12 hours in my day, I’d be happy with 10.
 
I have started the BOM in the Vignette Magazine, wow it is so much fun to put together.  I am using the same fabrics as Leanne, only because I love the colours so much.  I never thought that I would change in my colour scheme, always liked country.  Now its shabby chic, lecien brights, florals, civil wars but my favourite will always be RED.
 
I have just received Vignette No.4 – wow Leanne you’ve done it again, it is amasing.  The projects are beautiful, I love all the canvases.  So many great techniques to practice, and the food yummmmmmmmmm.
